Welcome to our Hospital!
The Bird & Exotic Hospital has expanded the scope of Dr. Harrison's The Bird Hospital. While still devoted to birds, we also see a wide range of animals, including:
- mammals such as rabbits and rodents
(includes guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters and rats) - ferrets
- marsupials (sugar gliders)
- insectivores (hedgehogs)
- skunks and
- reptiles (includes lizards, turtles and snakes)
For more than 20 years, Dr. Vanessa Rolfe has focused on avian and exotic pet medicine and with her well-trained staff, she will work to keep your pets healthy and happy for a long time. If we haven't had the honor of meeting you, we will be happy to show you around so you can see what makes our hospital different.

Our Mission
Our emphasis is in educating the pet owner, in order to prevent or avoid illness of the exotic pet. Estimates show 90% of problems in these exotic pets are due to improper care, feeding and environment, and this is due to the fact that it is often hard to find accurate information. This is our niche.
Bird Care Classes
Please join us at our evening bird care classes and get a coupon for $5 off your next routine examination.
Our classes are designed to supplement the consultation we provide during out examination visits but anyone is welcome to join us.
We will cover important things to know to keep your bird happy, healthy and thriving in your care. Since most of the problems patients develop can stem from the care they receive in our homes, this information can help cut down your medical costs, decrease your pet's stress and help your loved one stay well for as long as possible.
Announcements
As often as possible, to decrease our reliance on refined energy and pollution, Dr. Rolfe and Angela Myles bicycle to work. Both of us are avid cyclists and will be participating in this year's south Florida MS150 to raise money for research against Multiple Sclerosis.
We will be away the weekend of May 3-4 to ride the grueling 75 miles from Miami to Key Largo and back. We are looking for donors wanting to help eliminate one more disease from our lives. Or, join our team! Please visit our MS page for further information.
