What about emergency services after hours?

Dr. Rolfe is on call generally for existing clients and many times for new clients. Please call 561-964-2121 and you will be directed to Dr Rolfe if she is available.

What happens during a wellness visit?

We start out by asking for a thorough listing of many facets of the pet's environment, feeding protocols, and care. Then we perform a gentle but thorough physical examination of your pet including evaluation of all systems. Dr. Rolfe can see the effects of the care on the pets condition, checks for symptoms of early problems, and makes suggestions on what aspects of the care need optimizing. There will likely be some tests or sometimes treatment that will be recommended or suggested and you can decide whether you would like to have them performed at that time. In most cases we recommend that you be present during the examination.

Can I just have a wing and/or a nail trim and not get a wellness examination?

We will perform wing and nail trims on birds that aren't up to date on their wellness visits here. However, beak trims are usually never necessary (only smoothing is sometimes requested by the owner) unless there's a medical problem; if your bird's beak is overgrown we require a wellness visit within the last year to trim it. We offer grooming on all other animals for our current patients (wellness visit within the last year).

How is payment requested?

We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Payment is required at the time services are rendered.

How long should I expect for a visit?

As getting good information to you the pet owner is one of our main tenets, unless emergency conditions apply, our goal is to spend as much time with you as possible. Expect the initial patient visit to take from 45 to 60 minutes.

Do I need an appointment?

As we schedule a great amount of time with our clients, we don't always have the chance to comfortably give unscheduled visitors the amount of time we like. We really strongly recommend an appointment. Call first, we don't bite and you won't ruffle our feathers!
